The Nutshell:
The Miami Hurricanes played Duke to a standstill in the early going of this
game as Duke was impatient on offense. Duke broke open a tight game with a
24-2 run over the last ten minutes of the first half, thanks to its defense and
rebounding. Alison Bales played shooting guard in the first half with several
long jumpers while Lindsey Harding & Abby Waner pushed the tempo. With 11-2
and 14-1 runs in the second half, the rout was quickly on. Duke's defense held
Renee Taylor, the ACC's leading scorer, to 15 points on 4-14 shooting and forced
6 turnovers. The Canes shot just 26% and Duke won 72-42 despite shooting just
36% themselves. Bales, Waner & Carrem Gay all finished in double figures for
the Devils.
